Our Beginnings

I didn’t start out in the gemstone world. I was a graphic designer — working with visuals and helping others tell their stories.

But everything changed when I moved to Jaipur, the heart of India’s gemstone industry. I became fascinated by the process of shaping natural stones. And I noticed something that many overlooked: most cabochons being made were not actually good for jewelry.

They were often bulky, uneven, or poorly finished — all because manufacturers wanted to minimize waste and maximize weight. But in doing so, they ignored what really matters to jewelers: ease of setting, symmetry, and finish.

That’s when I had a simple thought:

What if we cut cabochons differently — not to save weight, but to deliver perfect results?

Even if it meant a little more material loss, the result was worth it: beautifully shaped, smooth stones that were ready to set without extra work. That idea became the foundation for Mine Cabochon.

I also saw another problem: many online gemstone sellers were unreliable. Some didn’t ship orders. Others used fake photos, refused custom sizing, or ghosted customers after payment. I knew I could offer something better — something honest.

So in 2020, I launched Mine Cabochon with a single goal:
